Lifelong Learning Payap presents Museums in Chiang Mai: Their Role in the Preservation and Communication of Natural and Cultural Heritage with Rebecca Weldon. This presentation explores the more than 100 museums in Chiang Mai that preserve and communicate Northern Thailand’s natural and cultural heritage, highlighting their development and support by communities, temples, and government. Discover historic buildings, archaeological sites, conservation efforts, and diverse collections ranging from temple art to ethnographic exhibits, including smaller niche museums and those created by universities and government agencies. The talk will also introduce a national museum database to enrich travel experiences in Thailand, and serves as the first in a museum series, with monthly excursions beginning in June.
